About

JD and Kathy Merget opened Oslo Coffee Roasters in 2003 on then quiet street corner of Roebling and Metropolitan in Williamsburg. Since then, we've grown into a small-craft, artisanal coffee roasting company with three cafes and a roastery. Still family-run and independent today - born and raised in Brooklyn.

Over a decade ago, JD and Kathy moved from their tiny Chinatown apartment to start a small coffee business. At the time they simply wanted to serve Williamsburg neighborhood locals the best coffee the area had to offer. 14 years later and Oslo has grown to be a place JD and Kathy could only have dreamed of, evolving to become a respected establishment and a name synonymous with the best coffee in New York City. Their own coffee, roasted in their trusty small-batch roaster as Oslo Coffee Roasters.

We roast on a small Probat roaster in a warehouse on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, sharing the space with other local craftspeople. We do love calling this home and being part of the mom-and-pop, creative communal landscape happening here in the neighborhood.

Oslo is focused on sustaining community, sourcing socially and ecologically sustainable coffees, and supporting local small business. Offering blends and seasonal single origins from across the globe.
We seek and nurture relationships with small scale farmers growing the best of specialty grade coffees.

Our two Brooklyn cafes and Upper East Side location have become gathering places that welcome all ages. Stop in, say hello!
