About

Remains Lighting founder David Calligeros launched his successful antiques business on the premise that the best way to sell antiques was to back them up with impeccable customer service. First opened in a Chelsea loft in April of 1996, Mr. Calligeros personally restored each item he sold to the highest standards, with sensitivity and attention to the requirements of his exacting interior design and architecture clientele. His keen interest in fine metalwork, as well as his desire to have a state-of-the-art restoration workshop devoted to one class of material, pushed him to focus the business on antique lighting. He continued this pursuit with the manufacture of his own designs, launching the Remains Lighting Permanent Collection in 1999, the bespoke Custom Division in 2008, and a collaboration with Hutton Wilkinson and the launch of Tony Duquette by Remains Lighting in 2009.

Mr. Calligeros’s respect for the outstanding beauty and craft exhibited in the vintage pieces of our Antique Collection, and the knowledge he continually gains from restoring them, form the inspiration for the Permanent Collection. The fixtures in our Permanent Collection are crafted of the highest quality materials and most sophisticated construction techniques possible, to ensure that they will last for generations and become our grandchildren’s treasured heirlooms. The collection is manufactured under the direct supervision of Mr. Calligeros in our New York factory, where we are proudly keeping the history and knowledge of metal craft alive.
