Art Lab's purpose is to offer Staten Island the best possible and most professional independent school of fine and applied art, and to bring knowledge and appreciation of artistic excellence to the metropolitan community through regular classes, exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, and lectures.

Art Lab is a 501c3 non-profit art school located on the property of Snug Harbor Cultural Center. Art Lab offers four semesters of classes and workshops throughout the year. These classes provide art instruction and appreciation for students of all ages, beginners to advanced levels. Art Lab also offers exhibition space, special programs and events to help fulfill it's mission. It is a valued member of New York's arts and educational community and is a vital part of the cultural life of Staten Island.

Services

  • Classes Advanced (Ages 16-21), Applied Art, Children Artists (Ages 6-8), Conference House Classes, Creative Arts, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Pre School Artists (Ages 3-5), Printmaking, Teens Students (Ages 13-17), and Young Artists (Ages 9-12) classes.
  • Summer Programs (Camp Picasso) ( Summer camp for ages 6-12 ) Students draw, paint, make clay sculpture, paper-mache projects, and masks. In addition to having fun and creating many take home projects, children learn basic art principles. All materials are included in the tuition price. Children attending all day should bring a bag lunch.
  • Summer Studio Scholarship Program This six-week intensive summer program gives students (teens to adults) the opportunity to gain knowledge, develop new and existing skills and explore career options under the supervision and guidance of professional artists and university level instructors. Lessons concentrate on drawing, painting, sculpture, and art history. Studio work is supplemented by visits to professional studios, galleries and museums.
