We worked with Karen on several projects in our apartment including renovation of our master bath and bedroom and renovation of our family room which involved among other things the design and installation of custom cabinetry to accommodate a very large television and extensive media equipment. Karen also handled design, renovation and decoration of a one bedroom pre-war coop we purchased for our bachelor son. This included remodeling the kitchen and bathroom, electrical design, closet remodeling and selection and placement of furniture, fabrics, etc. In all projects Karen supervised the relevant contractors and worked with appropriate officials to secure all needed permits. She is meticulous, very organized and thorough. Karen also has excellent taste and an excellent design sense. Karen is a pleasure to deal with --a very nice person and extremely professional. I recommend her highly.

I was very pleased with the services performed by Karen Hartmann for my kitchen, bath, and general design consultation. She redesigned my kitchen and bath from top to bottom. She guided me through the selection of all materials, fixtures, finishes, etc. In addition, she designed several pieces of custom furniture that were needed and enhanced my home. She did an excellent job of understanding my needs, even suggesting additional possibilities I had not thought of. Her drawings were excellent and she helped me have a thorough understanding of them and the entire process. She is most patient and mindful of budgetary considerations. She is completely transparent. With plumbing and electrical, there were certainly surprises that were complicated and unexpected -- especially since I live in a 1928 building. Her thorough knowledge of construction and ability to work with different trades helped when these issues that arose. I always found Karen patient, understanding, and most creative. Her ability to work with others was outstanding. Her follow up was thorough and my project was completed on time. Karen was very discriminating with the contractor and tradesman that she worked with. She was willing to work with people I suggested, but I was very happy that I went with her suggestion. They were excellent and I felt comfortable with them in my home.

She is a very versatile designer- everything i envisioned Karen made possible and it got executed with excellent craftsmanship ! Woodwork- tile design - execution of complicated design wishes , for example a table made of Corian and bronze. She is very precise , on time , very enthusiastic about her work She loves her project and loves to help her client.
