Jessica D’Amico

Jessica D’Amico is the creative and artistic force behind Lady J Jewelry Designs. Miss D’Amico was formally educated at Pratt Art Institute in Brooklyn where she majored in sculpture, with a concentration in metal smithing and jewelry design. In 1998, Miss D’Amico participated in a special studies program at The California College of Arts and Crafts, where she studied under metal smith, Maralyn DeSilva. Miss D’Amico learned special techniques in metal smithing, creating provocative projects such as ceiling-to-floor candelabras, two-foot metal serving spoons and a metal tiara. After completing her studies, Miss D’Amico worked for East Village jewelry designers Sara Samoiloff and Dan Natkjil. In 2002, Jessica embarked on her own, launched her company, Lady J Jewelry Designs, and opened ladyjjewelry.com.

In 2005 & 2006, growth led to Demographix Magazine penning a lead story on Lady J Jewelry Designs, with glowing reviews of the launch of the Giraffe Collection and the Saturn Series~the Leather & Silver Line. In 2007, the company continued its rapid growth and received further praise, with features in InStyle Magazine, Lucky Magazine, diything.com, iVillage.com and A.M. New York. During a very busy 2008, despite the demands of managing her business, Miss D'Amico found time to teach jewelry design to young students at Mott Hall in Manhattan. And also in 2008, her Yanomami-inspired collection, Sweet Leaf, was unveiled at trade events and was featured in WWD, Accessories Magazine and Essence Magazine in 2008, and Fine Jewelry Magazine in 2009. Miss D'Amico spent significant time on goodwill endeavours during 2009-2012, supporting such notable causes as The Co-Op School of Brooklyn, Friend's of Karen, Youth Assets, The Urban Assembly Academy of Arts & Letters, P.S. 9, and Brooklyn's St. Nicks Alliance. In May 2012, the company's first store, Lady J +1, opened in Prospect Heights as the first 'Brooklyn-only' showcase featuring indie local artists. In July 2012, the Icicle Collection was launched, and has quickly become the best-selling line in the company's existence. Also in 2012, Miss D'Amico proudly received the worldwide 'Originality In Fashion' award from ORGNL.TV & Stoli. The launch of Comanche by Lady J Jewelry Designs debuted in 2013. Lady J+1 is a member of WAPHA, the Washington Avenue-Prospect Heights Association. Miss D'Amico has designed jewelry for celebrity clients like Denis O'Hare and Jennifer Tzar. Miss D'Amico is married and her and her family reside in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn.
