The Marine Hospital Quarantine Station was located on Staten Island in the St. George & Tompkinsville area of Staten Island, mostly by where the S.I. Ferry is today. It operated from 1799-1858. It was at the turn of the last century when Staten Island secured funds and began developing the park, and it continues to flourish more than a century later, complete with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, sports fields, and many other facilities.

Veterans Park urban parks

Veterans Park is Staten Island’s oldest park. It was laid out in 1836 when Port Richmond’s village streets were mapped and was reported to be the village green or common. Thirty years later, the town was incorporated as Port Richmond, and in 1898, the year of City’s consolidation, this park was named Port Richmond Park.
