Cragsmoor Stone Church

About

Cragsmoor’s historic Stone Church is the spiritual home for an open and affirming community as well as a spiritual space sacred to thousands of people who come from around the world to experience the chapel’s serenity and beauty.

The church was designed by Frederick Dellenbaugh and constructed privately from 1895 to 1897 through the generosity of Eliza Hartshorn, whose descendants continue to worship with us today. Situated on the Shawangunk Ridge at almost 2,000 feet in altitude, it commands breathtaking vistas of 50 miles. Its Gothic stone and wood architecture and its stained glass windows create an environment unsurpassed for meditation and worship. For this reason, the doors of the church are always open, and you are welcome to enter respectfully and experience the chapel’s extraordinary peacefulness.
